Shannon Harris
Co-Founder/General Partner
Shannon Harris has extensive experience working with start-ups, consulting, financial advisory, credit analysis, project finance and environmental and sustainable finance. Shannon has substantial international experience in China and Brazil and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Portuguese. Her strong ESG background includes the successful development and implementation of a sustainability/ESG framework utilized for investment decision making, due diligence and risk management of the Office of the Illinois State Treasurer’s $35 billion portfolio. Shannon also holds the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing.
Rekha Vaitla
Co-Founder/General Partner
Rekha Vaitla has built her career around sustainable investment. Her experience has included leading a fixed income research team, and equity ESG integration, and investment stewardship for a $35 billion investment portfolio. She has also managed and led large investor coalitions, with nearly $1 trillion in AUM on ESG issues. Her prior work also included managing equity, diversity, and inclusion programs to increase the use of investment firms owned by minorities, women, veterans and people with disabilities given the business case for diversity in investment. Rekha currently serves as a subject matter expert for the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and frequently speaks at conferences such as Pension Bridge, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Forum, Pension Bridge and Pensions and Investments. She graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science and Carnegie Mellon University with a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management.
John Cole
General Partner
John Cole has devoted his career to business development and finance for over 25 years, and brings a level of excellence to his clients by providing focused leadership and a commitment to producing superior deliverables. John’s professional career encompasses private equity and venture capital financing, investor relations, corporate communications, executive coaching, and working with start-up companies providing guidance in business plan development, shareholder compliance and oversight, and corporate valuations. Mr. Cole has held positions at the C Suite level and worked as Director of Investor Relations for both private entities and publicly traded companies. He is a visionary, with a track record for finding innovative ways to grow revenue and increase profits. Articulate communicator, known for building lasting relationships with senior management and strategic partnerships. Mr. Cole’s passion is giving back to his community by working as an educator with young entrepreneurs. John is also a member of (NIRI) The National Investor Relations Institute.
Brian Daniells
Chief Financial Officer
Brian Daniells brings extensive experience in developing innovative business opportunities in both start-up and established companies. With more than 35 years of executive experience in building and executing business strategies for leading global financial companies such as Advanta, CIBC, Wells Fargo, and Tatum, he brings an entrepreneurial vision to each of his ventures. The first half of his career was largely spent in commercial banking, developing how the lending industries assess risk and provide credit to emerging market companies. The second half was in consumer banking, modelling pricing and consumer risk and behavior. Since then, he has served as Chief Financial and the Senior Operating Officer of late stage and emerging-growth companies (both domestic and multinational). Mr. Daniells served as CFO, member of the executive committee and board for two portfolio investments—Torrey Pines Transportation (a leading executive transportation firm, catering to San Diego’s high tech and biotech communities) and Qooqoo—an innovative social marketing agency that brings disruptive communication engagement to the healthcare industries. Mr. Daniells holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Claremont McKenna College, a master’s degree in Finance and Real Estate from the University of San Diego and is a Certified Turnaround Professional- Designate with the Turnaround Management Association.
Meltem Ballan PhD
Advisory Board Member
Dr. Meltem Ballan is an accomplished technology executive and educator with a unique combination of analytical and business expertise developed over 20 years both in industry and academia. She is a pioneering woman data scientist, the first woman neurodiverse fellow at General Motors, who has nurtured and mentored hundreds of budding analysts and scientists as a recognized leader and as an advisory board member. Her current works cover the wide range of sustainable AI implementations from infrastructure development to software services. She is a cofounder and an investor of an application specific cloud data center startup, Concrete Engine. She focuses on reducing the environmental effects of blockchain and increasing community involvement. She is also a technical cofounder of a fashion technology company. Her mission is to reduce the unseen psychological effects of metaverse and digital twins through the use of “Emotional AI” and digital fitting rooms. True diversity and inclusion in technology is what drives her commitment and passion throughout her entire career. Meltem received her Doctor of Philosophy – PhD from Florida Atlantic University where she majored in Complex Systems and Brain Sciences Doctor of Philosophy. She also attended UNC Kenen-Flagler Business School, and later attended Harvard Business School - Executive Education where she studied artificial intelligence course that demystifies AI and its practical implications for business advantage.
Edson Oliveira PhD

Dr. Edson Oliveira is a highly skilled scientific advisor with a decade of the life sciences sector experience. He currently serves as a Principal Scientist at Biotech start-up, where he oversees the viral vector core. Edson possesses over 9 years of post-PhD experience in molecular biology and immunology and has authored over 20 publications in his field of study. Additionally, he has served as a reviewer for major scientific journals in the life sciences. Edson's primary focus is on developing cell engineering approaches to support cell therapies for the treatment of hematologic or solid tumors. He has a profound understanding of vectorology and has a specific emphasis on lentiviruses and adeno-associated viruses. Edson completed his Pharmacy School at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, holds a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) in Brazil, and completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). With his extensive industry experience and expertise, Edson is a valuable asset to Greenlight Equity Partners and the broader life sciences community. He is committed to developing innovative therapies to enhance patient outcomes and is dedicated to advancing the field of life sciences through his work.
Vish Kulkarni
Venture Patner
Vish Kulkarni is a seasoned commercial leader with 18+ years of experience leading technology-driven matrix-based organizations in domestic and international markets. Mr. Kulkarni’s professional career spans global business markets, customer management, new product launches and business strategy in medical devices and various technological verticals. His career journey includes positions as Sr. Vice President at Rockley Photonics, Inc., Sr. Director, Product Management with Mammoth Biosciences, Global Marketing Director, at Cepheid, Inc., Senior Product Management at iRhythm Technologies. He is presently Co-founder of MediKarma, Inc. where he was responsible for the initial product vision and building the board of directors. Vish is passionate about making a difference by developing products and businesses that provide customer and shareholder value. Vish holds an MS. in Computer Engineering from Wright State University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
